Hollowmark Legends
Hollowmark Legends is the kind of RPG that respects a phone screen. Menus are big, readable, and never bury the option you need three taps deep. You build a party of four from a roster of oddball heroes, then send them through a story about a fading kingdom that's a lot more melancholy than the cheerful art suggests.
Combat is where it shines. Instead of static turn order, you can spend a resource to shove an enemy back in the queue or pull an ally forward. Learning to bend the timeline in your favor turns even tough fights into puzzles. I spent a whole evening replaying one boss just to find a cleaner solution.
The grind is gentle and there's a proper offline mode, which matters when your commute goes underground. My only gripe is that later chapters lean on the same enemy types. Still, the writing and the battle system carry it.
