Lanterns of Avelry

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Lanterns of Avelry is a quiet, gorgeous point-and-tap adventure. You play a traveler carrying the last working lantern into a village frozen in permanent twilight, and your job is to relight its lamps one by one while piecing together why the sun stopped rising.

The puzzles are environmental and fair. You gather objects, talk to sleepy residents, and figure out combinations without ever needing a wiki. Everything is hand-drawn with a watercolor look that genuinely made me stop to admire a few screens.

It's short, maybe four hours, but it doesn't overstay its welcome. If you want something atmospheric to play in bed with headphones on, this is it.
